License for thrills

The All-Wheel Drive Subaru WRX gives you a license for thrills thanks to peace of mind afforded by the cutting-edge safety technology of EyeSight® Driver Assist system available on Sport Lineartronic®transmission variants. The advanced Subaru Vision Assist technology and Driver Monitoring System* on selected variants provides enhanced safety, plus the front passenger seat cushion SRS* airbags for added peace of mind protection.

Great power: tick.

Great responsibility: tick.

Driver Monitoring System

Subaru tackles driver distraction and fatigue with a Driver Monitoring System – Driver Focus (DMS)1 on select variants. This innovative system constantly monitors the driver’s attention to help reduce the chance of accidents. The advanced DMS1 uses near infrared LEDs and a camera to recognise when the driver’s attention is waning or if they are showing signs of drowsiness. An alert will then warn the driver, reminding them to refocus on the road ahead.

The system’s intelligent facial recognition can identify five separate drivers and then automatically personalise the cabin to their preferences – adjusting the climate control and Multi-Information Display (MID) unit screen. Selected variants also automatically adjust the driver’s seat and door mirror position2. While the Subaru WRX AWD tS and WRX Sportswagon AWD tS have the added feature of Drive Mode Select memory function.

EyeSight®Driver Assist

The latest generation EyeSight® Driver Assist1 system is a world-renowned preventative safety system, that uses high resolution stereo colour cameras that can recognise potential dangers and obstacles ahead. Now even more attentive, the range of features provide warnings, plus braking and steering intervention that is designed to help reduce driver burden, prevent accidents and save lives.

Latest features on Subaru WRX include Lane Centring Function that works with Adaptive Cruise Control to provide assistance to maintain position in the detected lane. Speed Sign Recognition which displays the detected speed limit for the driver, while the Intelligent Speed Limiter can automatically set the speed limiter to detected limit. Other features also include Autonomous Emergency Steering and Emergency Lane Keep Assist.

Other primary functions include – Pre-Collision Braking System, Lane Departure Warning, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lead Vehicle Start Alert, Lane Departure Prevention and Lane Sway Warning.

Subaru’s Vision Assist

A smart driving companion to have on your side, Subaru’s Vision Assist uses radar technology and embedded cameras to detect vehicles and obstacles you can’t see – giving drivers a greater awareness of the world around them. Vision Assist is fitted as standard and when combined with EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology1 on selected variants it empowers drivers with a sixth sense to support preventative safety.

Maximum Visibility

Part of Subaru’s primary safety philosophy includes maximising driver visibility which informed the design of the Subaru WRX, with improvements to the visibility around the A-pillar and C-pillar blind spots. This helps drivers to detect potential dangers quickly and easily, especially when driving around tight corners or navigating busy carparks.

And while Subaru can’t control every variable on the road, the inclusion of eight SRS1 airbags in the Subaru WRX, including the front passenger seat cushion airbag, can help reduce the possibility of serious injury in the event of a serious accident.

1. SRS: Supplemental Restraint System. Effective when used in conjunction with seatbelt

Animal Magnetism

From the world stage, to city streets, Subaru WRX exudes animal magnetism at every turn. Every curve, contour, gap and angle has been revisited and trimmed to the millimetre. Accentuated by the iconic bonnet scoop, the designed silhouette is more distinctive and athletic. Seductive LED ‘switchback’ headlights slice through the night, offsetting the striking grille and distinctive, sporty wheels.

Bolstered, more aggressive design cues command respect – including muscular wheel arches and side fenders, plus a rear spoiler that clinches the motor sport aesthetic. Inside luxurious Ultrasuede® seat trim graces the seats on Subaru WRX AWD RS, Subaru WRX AWD tS and Subaru WRX Sportswagon AWD tS.

Performance from tip-to-tail

Born of a legend and built on three decades of innovation, the All-Wheel Drive Subaru WRX is the most thrilling yet in the storied history of the iconic WRX. Performance enhancements start with increased power, courtesy of a 2.4-litre direct injected turbocharged horizontally-opposed Boxer engine, while the ultra-low centre of gravity and improved* power-to-weight ratio support dynamic stability and acceleration. The designed body also delivers a chassis boasting increased rigidity for improved*overall control, steering response and cornering ability.

The introduction of the Subaru Performance Transmission, you truly have to feel it to believe the true sports car acceleration and efficiency that it has to offer.

Subaru Performance Transmission

With its sports-inspired agility and intimidating engine power, the Subaru WRX Sportswagon AWD boasts the 8-speed Subaru Performance Transmission, while it is also available on select sedan variants, which encompasses the Sport Lineartronic® gearbox, Variable Torque Distribution and Sports Shifting Control.

Delivering approximately 30% faster upshifts and approximately 50% faster downshifts, the Subaru Performance Transmission features an upgraded, more aggressive shift logic with a quicker and smarter response to driver input so every trip can be more fun and engaging.

Heart and soul

The heart and soul of Subaru WRX owes its vitality to the iconic turbocharged horizontally-opposed Boxer engine and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. Designed to sit lower and flatter in the engine bay than traditional engines, Boxer’s unique design delivers less noise and vibration to the cabin, while the lowered centre of gravity improves stability, cornering and traction with the road

Aerodynamic efficiency

The Subaru WRX AWD design goes beyond just looks, by adding improved aerodynamics. By controlling the flow of air around and through the vehicle, the engineers were able to create a WRX which exhibits reduced lift, resulting in improved steering feel for the driver, as well as greater vehicle stability.

Drive it your way

Unrivalled driver control is delivered via the distinctive 3-mode Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-Drive)1, and Drive Mode Select2 on selected variants, which give the driver integrated control over key vehicle systems. This powerful combination delivers vehicle stability and driver control, with tailored steering response characteristics, dynamic handling and exhilarating torque.
